Maintaining your information in a secure and confidential manner is a hallmark of Edwin's accounting practice.  Privacy extends that hallmark.  Because privacy matters to Edwin's accounting practice, we want you to understand what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
 
What we collect
 
We collect only the information we need.  What we seek depends on the services you request.  Sometimes the information we collect is anonymous.  Where we can, we collect information from you directly.  Otherwise, we take steps to confirm that others who give us your information have the authority to do so.
 
We provides Contact Us feature on our web site to make it easy for you to ask questions and send comments.  This form delivers your information to us using email.  To evaluate and respond to your questions or comment, we require your name, email, and phone number.  You may also choose to provide additional contact or other information.  To address your request, we may need to gather additional information about you, directly or otherwise.
 
Sensitive personal information includes race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or other beliefs, trade union membership, physical or mental health, sexual life or criminal records and in some cases social security numbers or financial information.  We works to protect the confidentiality and security of such information it obtains in the course of business.  Access to such information is limited and policies and procedures are in place designed to safeguard the information from loss, misuse and improper disclosure.  Generally, we do not request, and discourage you from, providing sensitive or confidential information.  If you choose otherwise, you consent to our collection and use of that information in accordance with our privacy practices.
 
How we use your information
 
We use your information to understand and meet your needs, and deliver the services you request.  We also use your information to evaluate your inquiry and then formulate and communicate a response.  For example, we may use it to send you our information of interest to you.  Your personal information is not used in analysis or reporting on use of our web site.
 
When we share your information
 
We sometimes work with partners and other organizations to help us deliver the services you request and need to share your information with these entitites.  We only provide them with the information they need to perform their job.
 
We will only disclose personal data to third parties that have agreed in writing to provide adequate level of privacy protection.  As such, we may disclose you personal information for the following reasons:

Also note that we do not collect or compile personal data or information obtained by this web site for dissemination or sale to outside parties for consumer marketing purposes or host mailings on behalf of third parties.

How we protect and update your information
 
We protect your information from unauthorized access and use with appropriate safeguards and security measures.  Our employees are aware of our commitment and uphold it.  We seek the same committment from our partners and others with whom we share information.
 
Information collected by us will only be kept in order to provide the required service.  Once the service has been completed, we keep your information as long as needed, or as long as required by law.  After that, it is destroyed, erased or made anonymous.  Should you require your information to be updated, amended or deleted from our records, please email our Privacy Office at privacyoffice@edwinlaw.ca outlining your requirements.

Please be aware that our web site sometimes contains links to other sites that are not governed by this privacy policy.  Visitors to our site may be direct to third-party sites for more information such as about vendor services and government entities.  We make no representation or warranties regarding how user data is store or used on third-party servers.  We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of each third-party site linked from our web site to determine their use of your personal data.
